FIT TIP:  You already sidestep the Pop-Tarts and Entenmann's -- great! But if you assume that your breakfast granola or stand-by frozen dinners are healthy, think again: Many processed foods have more saturated fat, sodium, or sugar that you might've previously thought.

When shopping, do what nutritionists do. Check out the nutrition content for things like no (or low) saturated fat, low sodium, and high fiber.

Meet Karen...

I have been overweight for my entire life.  I don't remember ever being healthy, weight wise.  I had a membership to Victory for several years but never went.  On October 22, 2007 I started at Victory full time and haven't stopped since.  I participated in three Biggest Loser classes and lost some weight but more inches.
 
From October 2007 to July 2008 I lost 100 pounds.  My most weight lost is 107 pounds.  I have kind of stalled due to poor eating choices.  I have gained some of it back but have not given up.  I will start the Biggest Loser again in February and have a goal of getting to 200 pounds by October 24, 2009.  That is when most of my friends will come home for Homecoming to the college I attended and I want to be healthy for that reunion.
 
There are so many people at Victory that have helped me to get where I am right now.  Craig and Josh have been two of the most involved people in this journey.  I look forward to working out for many years to come and working with everyone at the gym.  Also, I have made a lot of friends through the gym as well.  It has been wonderful.
